Loaned Executive Program

Each Year, United Way of Smith County has the privilege of working with top community volunteers through our Loaned Executive Program. Through this program, businesses allow key employees to participate in the United Way Campaign. The Loaned Executive experience not only helped over 60,000 people in Smith County last year, but provided important networking opportunities for the participants.

WHAT IS THE LOANED EXECUTIVE PROGRAM?

During the peak campaign season, United Way calls on its corporate partners to lend their best and brightest employees. Loaned Executives assist United Way staff in the development and implementation of workplace campaigns. Specifically, LEs lend their expertise and energy to help United Way expand solicitation efforts, reach new markets and broaden the base of community giving. In doing so, Les help strengthen the United Way commitment to "LIVE UNITED" in Smith County - Engaging the community in helping one another by making lasting improvements that change lives.

WHY IS THE PROGRAM IMPORTANT?

Loaned Executives keep fund-raising costs low by maximizing staff and volunteer efforts. In return, United Way provides a unique management program that develops sales and executive leadership skills and an understanding of community organizations. The Loaned Executive program is an excellent investment for your company, the loaned employee, and the community.

2011 LOANED EXECUTIVE TESTIMONIALS:

The LE Program has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.  I have learned so much about the needs within our community and the United Way Member Agencies which meet those needs on a daily basis.  Knowing I had the opportunity to help an agency raise the funds necessary to serve others has made a lasting impact on my life.  I am very fortunate to be a part of the LE program at the United Way of Smith County.

As a Children’s Advocacy Center staff member I see, on a daily basis, the positive impacts United Way funds have on Smith County residents, particularly our client population – child victims of sexual abuse and severe physical injury and their protective caregivers.  However, the United Way Loaned Executive experience has allowed me to see how broad the United Way’s influence truly is - from a hard-working man who through the services of Bethesda Health Clinic was able to avert a health catastrophe to a developmentally delayed adult who was able to find her purpose in life through Camp Heyday.  In addition, I have had the privilege of watching the caring, committed people of Smith County give of their hard-earned wages.  To see a construction manager give an impassioned plea to help abused children and to watch person after person give above and beyond what was asked of them has certainly been a humbling and rewarding experience.  Thank you to the United Way and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County for allowing me to be a 2011 Loaned Executive.

Being involved as a loaned executive has been a great experience.  Not only do LE’s get to share the UW story with those in our community, but we also enjoy making a difference by raising money on behalf of UW.  Being an LE has helped my personally as well.  I’ve honed presentation and personal skills as well as developed relationships that are vital to my business.  I recommend to anyone who is new to the business community or needs a jump-start getting your feet wet in the area to consider volunteering as an LE for UW.  Its time well spent.

It is a pleasure for me to share about my experience working as a Loaned Executive with the United Way of Tyler/Smith County.  I’ve had the opportunity to serve as an LE for three years and have seen firsthand the positive impact the UW supported agencies make in our community.  The UW funded programs help community members from all walks of life who find themselves in desperate or seemingly hopeless situations.  The effect UW agencies have may be summed in the hope they provide and the confidence they build within the hearts and attitudes of the ones they serve.
