Community Builders Grant

The Community Builders, a collaborative effort between United Way of Smith County and East Texas Communities Foundation, is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2011 Community Builders Grant.
The grant committee was tasked with the difficult job of prioritizing the needs of the 44 organizations that applied for 2011 funding. With $51,950 to allocate and requests totaling over $217,000, the committee met on June 28, 2011 to make their final decisions. Eleven agencies, listed below, were chosen to be the recipients of the funds.
Bethesda Health Clinic - Modernizing and expanding dental equipment
Children's Advocacy Center of Smith County - Support for family advocacy services
Christian Men's Job Corps of Tyler - Reach One Project at Bradshaw State Jail
East Texas Crisis Center - New reading project at the shelter partnering with Therapet
Junior Achievement - Curriculum for JA classes
Kings Storehouse Food Bank - Walk-in refrigerator box and replace/widen door.
Meals on Wheels - Fuel costs related to meal deliveries
Pine Cove, Inc. - "Camp in the City" partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of East Texas
St. Paul Children's Medical Corporation - Provide medications for children
The Salvation Army - Enhancement of ReConnect program
YMCA of Tyler - Replacement boiler for pool
